Do you love the look of a charger plate but don’t love the price? When it comes to the DIY wedding, you have to really think outside of the box. As a wedding designer, my mind is always in wedding mode, so everywhere I go, from Home Depot to the local office supply store, my mind is always seeing items in an alternative way that can be used for weddings or events. In this vain, I am always on the lookout for an alternative to charger plates. I believe that charger plates really do add that little extra something to the overall look of your wedding, but at $3.50+ per plate, they are quickly nixed when the budget starts to go a little wayward.
If you’re having a natural themed wedding in any way (beach, Tuscan/Italian, Green…) than this option for a charger plate is for you. Buy the natural square cork boards at your local hobby shop – we bought ours at Michael’s. We’ve used the dark cork for a Tuscan themed dinner party and loved them! They’re different and less expensive than some of the fancy charger plates.
