You know how when you go on vacation, you book all these fun and adventurous things to do together like ziplining, or parasailing? Well, why wait for the vacation? No matter where you live, there is adventure to be had. We are lucky enough to live in a city that has a lot of sunny days so there is no end to the adventurous things you can do in San Diego, but even without endless sunny days, you can find your adventure in your own city if you utilize a little creative thinking.
Here are some of our adventurous date ideas:
Rock climbing: Not the ‘outdoorsy’ type? That’s okay, there’s indoor rock climbing where they keep you safe and give you a lesson too. After watching your honey’s rear end go up to the top and the both of you coming down all sweaty and energized who knows what your day will lead to next.
Parasailing or paragliding: I’ve never done it myself, but I imagine if you’re looking for adventure, both of these should be at the top of the list.
Hiking/Camping: Go on a hike to a hike-in campground, build a cozy fire and a bring a cozier sleeping bag for two. Cuddle under the stars for the night, then hike back out the next day. Obviously, you’ll need some basic provisions that a good outdoor store can help you with.
Scuba Diving, hot air balloon, helicopter ride…
The idea is to be a tourist in your own city. What is your city known for? Why do people like to visit? If it’s mostly mellow non-adventurous stuff, how can you put your own spin on it to make it adventurous? Does your city have a lot of or a big museum? Do you need to be indoors because it’s too chilly outside? Create a scavenger hunt for each other within the museum. Each of you agree to start at the same spot, agree to 10, 20…items, come up with clues to get them to each item and questions they have to answer to ensure they made it to the right spot, make your list, then give your honey their list of items. It’s a museum, so it can’t be things they have to get per se, but questions they have to answer. For example, your clue may lead them a specific painting, but the question asks, “what is the sculpture in the middle of the room” or, “what painting is nearest the emergency exit”. Obviously, the two of you will have to do some research on your own, so this could be an fun all day date. Start in the morning with breakfast, head to the museum for your research, at lunch create your clues/questions, go on the hunt after lunch. First one back to the coffee shop wins – now what will you come up with for the prize??
