  • Card stock paper, 1 sheet
  • Twine, 20″
  • Mini brown bag
  • Paint, Fire Red, Jubilee Green & White (Delta’s Acrylic paint was used)
  • Paint brush, round & small stencil brush

  • Photograph
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick
  • OPTIONAL: Varnish, spray or brush on

HERE’S WHERE TO GET IT

*All materials were purchased at our local craft store. (Our local store is Micheal’s) For the photograph, look for one that you took on the first day of school or one in the classroom with the teacher or one with your child’s lunch box or…well you get the idea.

INSTRUCTIONS TO MAKE IT

  1. Print the apple templates and cut out 3 apples, 2 large one small, on your card stock paper. The small pattern is to be used as a stencil.
  2. Paint one side of the 2 big apples in Fire Red and the stems & leaf in Jubilee Green. Let dry.
  3. Place the smaller apple in the center of one of the big apples and with the stencil brush, pounce around with white paint. Remove small apple and set aside. Let dry.
  4. Lay the small apple over your photograph and trace around it and cut out.
  5. Glue the picture inside the white frame of the apple. You can also print your picture on paper and use that.
  6. Write with your black pen the words you would like to convey around the apple picture.
  7. Draw accent stitch lines around the photo apple and on the stem & leaf.
  8. Paint varnish on apple around picture and on back apple.  Let dry. Optional.
  9. Cut twine to 2, 10″ pieces and glue to back of apple making handles.
  10. Glue small brown bag to inside of each big apple, covering the ends of the twine. Let dry.
  11. Fill your bag with a fun surprise. Candy hearts, mints, pencils etc.
