GIRL SCOUT COOKIE FAVORS

What a yum-m-m-y idea!  Imagine your guests delight and surprise when they open their favor bags and inside are yummy Girl Scout Cookies that haven’t been sold in months?  Thin Mints freeze so well, so why not buy them now, freeze them for later and then package them in these pretty little DIY bags for your wedding or party favors?  Helps you, helps the Girl Scouts, it’s all good.

HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL NEED
  • Girl Scout Cookies
  • Plastic bags, no bigger than 8″x4″
  • Ribbons, 2 or 3 different complimentary colors
  • Paper, quilted wrapping, corrugated, or scrapbook paper
  • Hole punch
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick or hot glue
HERE’S WHERE TO GET IT

Girl Scout Cookies are being sold this time of the year.  If you can’t find them in your immediate area go to www.Girlscouts.com and find out where they are selling them in your nearby. We found some great papers  at our local scrapbook store and the rest of the materials were found at our local craft store.

INSTRUCTIONS TO MAKE IT
  1. Place cookies in the bags, 5 to 8, in each bag. Fold down top of bag and punch two holes through all layers.
  2. Cut your ribbons, and punch holes in them to match the ones in the bag. Some ribbon will be cut the width of the bag, some a bit longer. Use your best judgment when looking at the examples.
  3. Thread ribbons through same holes and tie in a knot or a small bow at the front. The middle bag has orange ribbon glued onto the corrugated paper and wrapped around to the back and tied into a knot. 2 buttons are glued to the ribbon front. The other examples have ribbon cut to the ends of the bag. The brown and blue ribbon bag has a rolled scroll of white paper, with a message from the bride and groom on it, rolled into the top of the plastic bag. A nice touch.

Tip: Think simple, don’t use too many embellishments, they will overpower the bag and hide the cookies.
