We created these fun damask placecards for a bridal show and thought, “hey, why not share how we made these with our readers”. The design we used was a damask print, but you could use just about any design that will work as a border.
Items needed:
- 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock paper (this will allow you to get 3 placecards on each sheet of paper)
- Color printer (if using color on the placecards) or black/white printer. Laser is better, so you could always save the design in a .pdf format on a flash drive and take it to your local Kinko’s (bring the paper, it’s cheaper than buying it there) for them to print and cut.
- Paper cutter (you can always go to Kinko’s and use there’s for free)
- Powerpoint software
What we did:
- First, we searched in google images for a damask design that we liked and saved it to our computer
- Each card is 3 1/2″x8 1/2″ total. When folded, they are 3 1/2″x4 1/4″. We kept the slide orientation landscape, inserted a text box (it’s easier to see the edges if you put a line around the box while editing, you can remove the line when you’re done), typed in the guest’s name in the font type, size and color we wanted (I’m sure there’s a way to use a merge for larger guest lists), set the size of the text box to 8 1/2″x3 1/2″, then placed the name in the middle of the bottom half of box.
- We then inserted our chosen picture, resized it and placed it in the top half and bottom half of the text box. You may have to use hard returns and keep setting your text box size to get it just right. We then copied the entire box and pasted it twice next to the first one.
- Remember to print on regular paper first and hold it behind your cardstock to make sure it’s exactly how you want it to look.
We also created the table numbers using the same basic premise, but made them bigger.
