Recently we were asked by our local neighborhood association to help make their movie night at an elementary school, a bit more special by adding some of our party decor to their entrance and food sale table.  We didn’t have a lot of room at the entrance to the cafeteria and we had to work with being in front of the doors that stayed open during the movie, so we used foam core board to hang our banner, “Sweets & Treats”, with the table below it. Put the sign on the outside doors, then brought it in next to the concessions, once the movie started.

It was so much fun and the kids absolutely loved having a bit more than just the ordinary drinks and snacks. These simple additions can be done with any gathering, whether it’s a small home kids sleepover or a large outdoor Barbecue.

The Display

We used three different letter stencils and two scroll designs, painted with acrylic paint, on the foam core sign. Covered the edges in black electrical tape and glued a banner to the bottom, with a picture cut out of the Little Rascals Gang.

Movie Show Sign

For the juice boxes, I got assorted colors of pompoms and hot glued them to the top of the boxes, glued them to the top of the water bottles and to the sides of the candy tins, on either side of the labels. I cut the Silly Sips circles in different shapes and glued them above the fruit faces on the boxes.

I covered the tins in the checkered paper and glued labels on them, along with the pompoms. The water and Cracker Jacks also got wrap around labels.

Pompom Thank You

I took the left over pompoms and covered a Styrofoam ball by gluing them all around it. Glued it to an upside down paper cup, and placed it inside the thank you wrap. It made a colorful Thank You wrap around.

The Banner

I cut 1″ slits in both sides of the banner flags and threaded large rick rack through the cuts. I taped the “&” to the foam core board, in the center of the two sections of banners.

What brought life to this display was placing the items at different heights. Putting the juice on tiered boxes, covered in white paper. Putting a long box along the back and covering it with the polka-a-dotted table cloth and placing the water and Cracker Jacks in red boxes. This really set the stage for these “Sweets & Treats”.
