Aguas Frescas are a great way to capture the sweet flavors of the season in a pitcher.  We love our local farmers markets and with Cinco De Mayo tomorrow, we thought we’d pick up some fresh local fruit from our farmers market to make Agua Frescas for our celebration.  Simply puree your farm-fresh fruit with a little water, a squeeze of lime and maybe a dash of sugar in a blender and strain. A 4:1 ratio of water to fruit works well, but adjusting for your taste is easy. Adding fresh herbs will kick things up even more. Will you be making a sweet strawberry mint batch or the classic cucumber lime rendition? Or, you can squeeze the juice from oranges into the blender with a few sprigs of cilantro for an interesting twist.  Take it up a notch by serving these in a glass rimmed with ginger infused sea salts and a wedge of your favorite citrus – now that will dress your frescas to impress!  And, if you’re anything like us, and want your frescas to have a little kick, try adding a bit of tequila to the mix.
