For this Lego birthday party, there was a lot of DIY, but as we are not bakers, we definitely hired someone to do a very special Lego cake. The cake was made by Roni Sugar Creations and it turned out exactly like what we asked for. She also made cute rice krispie treats on a stick that we incorporated into the goody bags.
Inside the goody bags, we made small Lego coloring books, dropped in some crayons from Oriental Trading Company, and bought one Lego mini-figure per bag (that was the splurge), we made Lego tags with each of the kid’s names on it and dropped in some Lego shaped candy that we found online. I found red see through goody bags with white dots on them that were cheaper than ‘Lego’ bags and still gave the same impression.
For the decor, I used a lot of red, yellow and blue. Tablecloths with dots on them, yellow plates and cups that I decorated myself with Lego sticker faces. My son helped build the cake stand out of Legos as well as the number 7 made out of Legos in front of the cake. We made Lego lanyards for each of the kids to wear with their name on them.
For fun, we hired Xtreme Fun to come out and do fun obstacle course races with the kids – they had a blast and the parents were actually able to have conversations with each other.
For food, we roasted vegetables, had crackers and cheese, pre-made southwest chicken and pre-made vege wraps, and fruit as well as pizza for the kids. We also made cupcakes and bought the Lego molds to make Lego chocolate molds to put on top of the cupcakes.
For drinks, we had water and juice for the kiddos and pre-made sangria in dispensers for the adults.
