This year’s 2016 Annual Halloween Party theme was inspired by the movie that was played on t.v. each year when I was kid.  We would gather at my Nana and Popop’s house, get the popcorn and desserts and sit down to watch a movie that was both scary and magical – The Wizard of Oz.

This year we went all out for the decorations.  We had a friend kind enough to help us build a castle facade on the front of our house and from there, each area of the yard was partitioned off – Emerald City, Munchkin Land, the Yellow Brick Road, Scarecrow’s corn field, Tin Man’s forest, the scary trees that threw their apples at Dorothy, and of course, the Witch’s castle.  At the end of the ‘Emerald City’, we created our movie night seating and showed the movie outdoors.  We painted a yellow brick road on the back of astro turf, and used tempera paint to paint a yellow brick road on the sidewalk (it wears off as it rains, so don’t do this if you need it gone the very next day).

On the night of the party, Wicked Witch’s abounded, but we also had a fair number of Dorothy’s, Auntie Em, Scarecrows and Tin Men (& women).

At LifEvents, we revel in theme parties and weddings and would love to help you bring your party imagination to life.

Here are some pictures showing us building, making, setting up and the night of the party.
